Windows update wants to install KB 2463332 for SQL Server Express 2005, however I have no instances of Express 2005 that qualify for the update. Please see summary of installation that follows. I have manually installed KB 2463332 for the SQL Server 2005 instances and the update finished successfully - all instances of SQL Server 2005 have been updated, but KB 2463332 will not update the SQL Server 2005 Express instances. Why do my SQL Server Express instances not qualify? How do I get rid of this annoyance? Is there a registry entry that needs to be modified to keep this from recurring? Why is Windows Update trying to apply an update for a product with no qualifying instances?

In SQL Server 2005, to install a service pack for an instance of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, we cannot use SQL Server 2005 Service Pack which is used to upgrade non-Express Editions but need to use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack. Also, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition can also be used for new installations. Here are details: • To install a service pack for an instance of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, please use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack. • To install a service pack for an instance of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services, please use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services Service Pack. In addition, you can hide the updates in the Windows Update so that it will not offer it to you continuous ly.

Based on the error message, it indicates that three instance(MSSMLBIZ, WAGO,WINCCFLEXEXPRESS) do not qualify for this update, and both of them are SQL Server Express. Please manual download the appropriate and use it to update the instance WAGO, once this instance is updated successfully, then you can hide this update in Windows updates by follow the link I posted above.
